4.2. Translation of the Qur’ān-Online

No quotation marks are used when quoting an original Qur’ānic verse. As for its Qur’ānic References, it should be italicized and in double quotes and chapter and verse numbers are indicated in text. Use the definite (al-) articles at the start of chapter names and the long openers (ā) in them. If Qur’ānic References of the quoted verse is taken from a webpage, its access date should be stated in parantheses in first reference text.

Example:

اِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذ۪ينَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَاِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ ا۪يمَاناً وَعَلٰى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَۚ

“The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.”1

The Qur’ānic References published by individuals or institutions can be referenced from websites that are trusted and free of scientific errors or copyright vilolation. Nevertheless, the use of printinted Qur’ānic References in academic works should be priority.

No period marks are placed after URL. Punctuation can cause the URL link to be corrupted
